Hello
I want you let you know about two excellent sources of information and visuals about Vermont Railroading.
Kevin Burkholder is taking pre-orders for an in-depth guide to the Vermont Rail System and Jim Jones continues his excellent documentary styles series of Vermont made videos on railroad history (along with the essential Vermont Rail System book written by his father Robert Jones).
Find Jim Jones videos here: railvermont.org/civicrm/?civiwp=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/mailing/url&u=625&qid=51470 [4]
Kevin’s VRS guide [5] is a one time opportunity. Here is what he says:
“First released 10 years ago and again 5 years ago, in cooperation with the VRS, the 160-page (+/-) 6×9-inch perfect bound Vermont Rail System Trackside Guidebook details all aspects of the VRS, providing detailed equipment rosters, including locomotives, plows, passenger cars and some maintenance of way equipment, as well as route information, normal operating practices, and newly added, information for drone photographers as to where LAANC is required, or other potential issues and hazards exist. This version will include the addition of the New England Southern and covers the trackage rights signed into place as part of the pending Pan Am Railways sale, should that be granted by the STB. This latest version will be released July of 2022, to include the most up-to-date information on the trackage rights at the time of the publication.
As you can see, this is a book with all the details, aimed toward railbuffs. If you aren’t one, it is like looking over the shoulder of the experts on the ground about how things move and how the company operates to serve Vermont.
The pre-order offer is valid through March 15, 2022, and at a price of $30. Every version of this book has sold out almost immediately upon printing.

This is not a paid ad (although both Kevin and Jim do support Vermont Rail Action Network) – I’m passing along because it is excellent material that I think you might like. As soon as I send this out, I’m ordering my own copy before I forget (I own almost everything Jim has done too).
